M4 traffic: Huge crash shuts major UK motorway in both directions as police rush to scene


A huge crash involving several vehicles has shut the M4 in both directions this morning. An air ambulance has just arrived at the scene on the M4 westboynd between Junction 42 A483 Swansea East / Briton Ferry and J44 A465 Llandarcy in Neath Port Talbot, according to traffic data company Inrix.

Traffic cameras show congestion is now reaching to J41 in Baglan/Pentyla westbound, while it is far back as J45 in Ynysforgan eastbound.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “We are at the scene of a collision on the M4 between Junction 42 and 44.

“The road is currently closed in both directions. It is expected to remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Delays are expected in the area.”
