London Underground driver who led 'free Palestine' chant on Tube train is suspended

A London Underground driver who led passengers in a “free Palestine” chant on a Tube train as he transported them to a massive rally, has been suspended.

Addressing the passengers over the speaker system, the driver said “free free”, before those inside one carriage shout “Palestine”.

The incident happened on Saturday, October 21 as around 100,000 protesters took part in a pro-Palestinian demonstration in central London.

Continuing his message on the politically-charged subject of the Israel-Hamas war, the London Underground worker added: “Hope you all have a blessed day today, and look after yourselves”.

Now Nigel Farage has called for the Tube driver to be sacked.

GB News presenter Mr Farage said: “It is not the job of a TfL driver to make political statements on a public announcement.

“This man should be fired Sadiq Khan.”

Meanwhile Minister for London Paul Scully said London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Transport for London (TfL) “need to get staff focused on the day job of safely moving people from A to B”.

He said: “At a time when there’s not enough emphasis on the difference between the horrific terrorist attacks by Hamas and the legitimate concerns of Palestinians in Gaza, it’s really important that Londoners don’t stoke the tension in our capital where Jews live peacefully alongside Muslims.

“Informed protest can bring change. But on-trend bandwagons can cause rifts and fear in communities, increasing the threat to the safety of some passengers travelling among those crowds.

“The Mayor and TfL need to get staff focused on the day job of safely moving people from A to B.”

Security minister Tom Tugendhat added: “London’s Tubes are for everyone. Many will find this intimidating.”

Transport for London said the driver has been suspended pending further investigation, reports My London.
