London murder probe launched after man in his 20s stabbed to death during 'street fight'


Police have launched a murder investigation after the fatal stabbing of a man in south London during an apparent street brawl. Officers were called Pawsons Road in Croydon, where they found the victim with stab injuries.

A Metropolitan police spokesman said officers were called at approximately 7.45om last night to reports of a man, aged in his 20s, suffering stab injuries.

He added: “Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance all attended and the man was taken to hospital – despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead a short time later.

“His next of kin have been informed.”

The spokesman added: “A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

“At this early stage it is believed the man sustained his injuries following an altercation in nearby Mayo Road.”

A crime scene remains in place, with no arrests yet having been made.
