Liz Truss warns Hamas working with Putin in major threat to UK: 'We don't have much time'

Former Prime Minister Liz Truss expressed her concerns over the growing collaboration between Hamas and Russian President Vladimir Putin, highlighting a significant threat to the United Kingdom.

Ms Truss argued that recent geopolitical developments, such as the withdrawal from Afghanistan, may have emboldened authoritarian regimes globally.

Speaking to Fox News, she said: “I think things like the withdrawal from Afghanistan gave authoritarians around the world the green light. The green light that if you push the West, if you push the United States, there might not be the resistance that there was in the past.”

The former Prime Minister emphasised the need for conservative American leadership and urged for a united front reminiscent of the 1980s alliance. She advocated for increased defence spending from the United States and its European partners, as well as coordinated economic policies to hold China, Iran, and Russia accountable for their actions.

Ms Truss went on to claim that totalitarian regimes are working in tandem. She added: “We saw Hamas going to Moscow, we saw Beijing helping Iran and Russia evade the sanctions.”

Ms Truss stressed that these events should not be viewed in isolation but as interconnected threats to the Western way of life: “We can’t just treat these as three separate things that are going on in different parts of the world. This is the threat to our way of life in the US and the UK, and I frankly don’t think we have that much time to take a different position.”
