Liverpool's next manager already sent plea as Jurgen Klopp given fresh dilemma

“I feel like if we stick together and keep marching on as a team we can do that. Harvey Elliott: Liverpool captain? Let’s hope so.” At Anfield, Klopp has already changed his leadership group with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold taking over from Jordan Henderson and James Milner as captain and vice-captain respectively.

Alisson, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah were also confirmed as part of the leadership group by Klopp in the summer. It means Elliott will likely have to wait a few years before potentially pulling on the armband at Liverpool, with Klopp’s contract only running for three more years.

In all likelihood, Elliott’s best chance of becoming Liverpool captain may come after Klopp leaves the club. Who comes in to replace Klopp remains to be seen, but Liverpool’s next manager has a future captain ready and waiting to take the call if need be.
