Liverpool star Mohamed Salah makes statement after Arsenal draw as winger frustrated

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has released a short statement insisting he and his team-mates must “do better” following his side’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Saturday. The winger was on the scoresheet at Anfield, taking his tally to 12 in the Premier League so far this season.

The Reds showed a fighting spirit on Merseyside after Gabriel Magalhaes rose highest to head past Alisson after just three minutes to send the travelling Arsenal supporters into a frenzy. Liverpool soon hit back through Salah, with the winger scoring a sensational solo goal.

The Egypt international received the ball out on the right wing before weaving his way past Oleksandr Zinchenko and smashing a fierce strike into the top corner, leaving Gunners shot-stopper David Raya with no chance.

Both sides went on to miss key chances, though Liverpool are likely to feel the more aggrieved with the point given that they had a penalty shout waved away by Chris Kavanagh despite replays showing Martin Odegaard clearly handle the ball whilst attempting to defend against Salah.

The Liverpool No 11 was not keen to make excuses after the match through, releasing a succinct message on X (formerly Twitter) with a vow to keep pushing for the Premier League title.

He wrote: “We know we can’t keep dropping points like this and we will keep fighting to do better.” The message was shared alongside a photo of Salah’s fierce strike, racking up over 50,000 likes and being viewed by over two million X users.

Liverpool will have the opportunity to bounce back to winning ways when they travel to Turf Moor on Boxing Day to face Burnley.

Though Vincent Kompany’s side proved that they are capable of putting teams to the sword when they moved off the bottom of the table this weekend with a 2-0 win over Fulham, and the Reds will be aware of the threat that their opponents pose.

Speaking about the match, Jurgen Klopp said: “I don’t need the Fulham result to understand Burnley’s quality. I think Burnley could have easily had much more points because they had so many good spells in the games where they then don’t finish these situations off.

“Young players in some positions. In the moment they finish these situations off, they can win football games, definitely. It was very often that they were really good in the game and I respect Vincent a lot for (the way) he keeps pushing his idea through.”
