Liverpool could offer five players in blockbuster Leroy Sane swap to keep Mohamed Salah

Liverpool could reportedly use the funds raised by a mega-money sale of Mohamed Salah to buy Bayern Munich ace Leroy Sane. It is claimed that the Reds could smash their transfer record to splash out over £80million on the former Manchester City winger.

However, Liverpool could simply offer five players to Bayern in return for Saudi Arabia-linked Salah – thus not needing to sell Salah in the first place. The addition of Sane in a front three alongside Salah would surely help Jurgen Klopp reclaim the Premier League title.

Express Sport looks at five stars whose combined value would be enough to prise Sane from Germany.

Caoimhin Kelleher

Second-choice goalkeeper Kelleher has long been linked with an exit from Anfield. The Irishman has played in just five Premier League games in his career, and is far too good to not be playing regularly.

Kelleher turns 25 in November and will want to kickstart his career. He could be the long-term replacement for the 37-year-old Manuel Neuer, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Joe Gomez

Another Liverpool star seeking to re-energize his career is Gomez. The defender has struggled for consistency in recent years, with injuries taking their toll on the England outcast.

Gomez’s style would suit the Bundesliga. The Reds may need to replace the 26-year-old, though, given his ability to fill in for injuries across the back four.

Kostas Tsimikas

Andy Robertson’s form has seen the talented Tsimikas struggle for game time since his 2020 arrival from Olympiacos. The Greek ace has made four appearances across all competitions this season, even though Robertson’s displays have not been up to their usual standard.

Tsimikas would find himself in a similar situation at Bayern, where Alphonso Davies is widely considered the first-choice left-back. But a change of scenery could be good for the 27-year-old.

Diogo Jota

If Liverpool sign Sane then that would surely be curtains for Jota’s Liverpool career. The Portuguese has seen the likes of Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo arrive and start ahead of him over the last 18 months. Sane’s possible arrival would be the last straw for Jota.
