Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp praises camerman who's 'annoyed' him lots this season

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has promised one cameraman “a lot of free shots” after thanking him for helping the German coach find his wedding ring. Klopp’s ring had fallen off of his finger in celebrations after his side defeated Newcastle 4-2 in an entertaining Monday Night Football clash.

Klopp was on the pitch applauding the fans and doing his trademark fist punches to the Anfield faithful when he noticed that his wedding ring had come off. In a panic, he searched the ground around him, only for a Sky Sports cameraman to notice it before filming Klopp picking it up.

Klopp then kissed his wedding ring into the camera in celebration and afterwards admitted that the person operating the camera had “annoyed” him on several occasions this season, but his opinion quickly changed.

“Oh my god! I lost it once and I needed a professional diver to get it because I was in the sea,” Klopp explained. “From time to time when I lose one or two kilos, I lose it and it’s a massive shock. But, it’s back and the cameraman, I don’t know which, he has annoyed me quite a few times this season but today he has a lot of free shots because that was really important.”

He added to beIN SPORTS: “It is here again! I’m not into jewellery, but this is the one ring I cannot live without. And the cameraman who found it is my hero. You are my New Year hero for 2024. From now on, if he wants to have my full face, he can have it.”

In a blockbuster match that saw Liverpool wrack up 34 shots, which hasn’t been bettered by any team all season, it was difficult not to get wrapped up in the hysterics even for the head coach who risked the wrath of his wife by momentarily losing his wedding ring.

Mohamed Salah had a first-half penalty saved by Martin Dubravka as the Reds had spent the entirety of the game on the front foot, but went into half-time goalless. The Egyptian did redeem himself just four minutes after the break, he opened the scoring after being set up by Darwin Nunez.

But moments later Alexander Isak equalised with one of the visitors’ first real attacks of the game, but a four-minute double salvo from Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo put Liverpool back in the ascendency before Salah capped off his final game before the Africa Cup of Nations with a penalty after Sven Botman’s header.

It was a blockbuster game that sent the Liverpool fanbase into hysterics at Anfield to such a point that Klopp dropped his wedding ring, but a hero cameraman rescued the day for the Reds boss and his efforts did not go unnoticed.
