Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has found his 'new Gini Wijnaldum' in 'incredible' player

Gravenberch has had to wait for his chance after fighting off competition from Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot and Wataru Endo but could be in line to start the blockbuster clash with Manchester City on Saturday alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai should he recover from a minor knee injury.

Klopp has even lavished praise on the 21-year-old who recently joined from Bayern Munich. “He’s a good player,” he told TNT Sports. “I’m so happy for him that he starts really enjoying his football again. His first touch is incredible, his acceleration with the ball. He’s not even halfway there. The good thing is that he has a lot of things to improve.”

Gravenberch had been touted as one of the next top talents out of Ajax’s academy when he made the move to Germany. However, he struggled to find a place in the team under Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel, but he is finding his feet in England as the ‘new Wijnaldum’.
