Lewis Hamilton tells FIA ‘do a better job’ in fiery response to Qatar mix-up

Lewis Hamilton has called out the FIA for their “poor communication” off the back of an incident at the Qatar Grand Prix, in which the Mercedes driver crossed the live race track after crashing out on the opening lap.

The seven-time world champion was initially fined £34,700 for crossing a live race track following an investigation from the FIA at the Lusail International Circuit.

Hamilton held his hands up for his role in the mishap, apologising for his actions which were born from frustration after colliding with Mercedes team-mate George Russell while attempting a move around the outside of turn one on the opening lap.

However, this wasn’t the end of the debacle as an FIA spokesperson later said: “In view of his role-model status, the FIA is concerned about the impression his actions may have created on younger drivers.”
