Lee Anderson rages at 'failing B-list celebrity' and 'champagne socialist' Carol Vorderman

Deputy Chairman of the Tory Party Lee Anderson reignited his furious war of words with ex-Countdown star Carol Vorderman last night after she launched a crusade against Conservative MPs who refuse to put the name of their party in their Twitter account bios.

Mr Anderson accused Mrs Vorderman of being a “failing B [list] celebrity” who is just “trying to look relevant”, as she continues posting a tirade of anti-Tory posts on Twitter.

Appearing on GB News, Mr Anderson added to his previous attack that Mrs Vorderman should act her age, joking she should “get her bus pass out and go and enjoy life”.

Mrs Vorderman has become increasingly political on her Twitter feed in recent months, attacking everyone from Boris Johnson to Nadhim Zahawi.

Mr Anderson drew parallels between Mrs Vorderman, Gary Lineker and Gary Neville, saying they are all “lefties, they’re multi-millionaires, they’re champagne socialists, they claim to be on the side of the poor people”.

Mr Anderson addressed Mrs Vorderman directly, saying “look, if she’s watching tonight I say to Carol, if you’re so convinced that socialism works and we’re so nasty let’s see socialism in practice”.

“You’ve got plenty of money, give it all away to the poor people in the country and prove that you are a proper caring socialist like you claim you are”.

“But you’re not, you’re just a hypocrite who jumps on any bandwagon that comes along.”

He concluded his rant by adding “I think you’re a failing B celebrity and she’s trying to look relevant, that’s all she’s trying to do”.

He later added Mrs Vorderman is “coming across as a bit of a child”, reiterating she needs to “act her age, whatever age that is”.

Mr Anderson also pondered whether the likes of Mrs Vorderman and Mr Lineker “are getting paid for tweets”.

“I know I’ve been offered money to retweet stuff but I would never accept money to retweet stuff, but I know there’s a market for it”

GB News presenter Dan Wootton pointed out that, like Mr Lineker, Mrs Vorderman also works at the BBC – with a show for BBC Radio Wales – and asked Lee Anderson whether it is appropriate for her to continue in the presenting role alongside being overtly political on Twitter.

Mr Anderson said: “It’s probably not but I don’t think the BBC will take any notice, you know what the BBC’s all about, it’s an anti-British corporation.”

“It’s attracting all these sorts of – like I say – left-wing celebrities, part of the woke culture, part of a culture that absolutely detests our history and culture and everything about this great country of ours.

“They all seem to be circling together like vultures, they hunt in packs on Twitter, and quite frankly most decent people in this country just ignore them.”

Mrs Vorderman is yet to respond to Lee Anderson’s latest criticisms.
