Laurence Fox spotted in public for the first time since GB News suspension

TV Star Laurence Fox has been pictured for the first time in public since following his suspension from GB News after his on-air rant about female journalist, Ava Evans.

Mr Fox was spotted in Forest Hill in South London at a Turning Point UK protest held outside Honour Oak pub.

Laurence Fox had also spoken to crowds at the protest, with the group advertising he was a speaker on their social media pages prior to the event.

It was the actor-turned-politician’s first appearance since his widely-criticised remarks on presenter Dan Wootton’s show about political journalist Ava Evans, asking: “Who would want to sh*g that?”

Both Laurence Fox and Dan Wootton have been suspended from the channel after the former made a series of misogynistic comments live on GB News.

Regulator Ofcom has reportedly received more than 7,000 complaints about the remarks which have been widely condemned.

Issuing an apology, Wootton said his “inappropriate” reaction to the remarks about the political correspondent for online news site Joe was a “very unfortunate lapse in judgment”.

Mr Fox has so far remained defiant about his remarks calling GB News “another establishment mouthpiece”.

Both Wootton and Fox have been suspended from GB News which has confirmed it is launching a “full investigation.”

Ms Evans, who works for the website Politics JOE, told the Daily Mail: “It would have been horrible for a woman to hear she was being discussed in those terms in the pub.” She has also described the comments as “unforgivable”.

GB News chief executive Angelos Frangopolous said on Friday he was “appalled” by the remarks, telling BBC Radio 4’s Today programme they should not have gone to air.

He issued a personal apology to Ms Evans, saying: “They (the comments) did not reflect what we believe is appropriate conversation as a media company, as a part of the national conversation, it really is an apology, it was just really inappropriate.”

He said GB News has a “process to follow” but he expects the internal investigation into the suspended presenters to be “resolved very quickly”.
