Laughing XR activists pose for smug selfies as 50k prepare to descend on London for chaos

Extinction Rebellion protesters have posted laughing selfies as they descend on London for some of the organisation’s most significant protests yet.

The climate change protest group expects between 40,000 and 50,000 people to arrive in the capital this morning and launch “The Big One”.

New pictures show bus loads of demonstrators arriving from around the country while smiling ear-to-ear ahead of the massive event.

The group’s “Big One” protests aim to filter up to 100,000 people in and out of Westminster for three days from April 21 to 24.

Activists have called on Britons to “roll up our sleeves and get on with it”, as they envision becoming “impossible to ignore”.

They will return “day after day” to the protest site, with several high-profile figures and celebrities expected to join them.

Pictures from the demonstration show people setting up outside Government departments as they set up for the main event this morning.
