Edward and Sophie chose not to give their children titles at birth but as grandchildren of the late Queen Elizabeth II they are entitled to Prince and Princess titles.

In November 2021, when Louise turned 18, she could have changed her title. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk that her decision not to style her name as Princess Louise “implies she has no plans, at least in the short term, to take up royal duties”.

Some readers highlighted this fact, like username Gr8nny1,, who said: “From the age of 18 Lady Louise already has the title of HRH Princess Louise – it is up to her when and if she chooses to use it.”

Similarly, username Gecko5 said: “Lovely Lady Louise could use Princess Louise if she chose.”

While username JanetWCQ1958 said: “Yes, she has as much right to use her royal titles as her cousins Beatrice and Eugenie. It is time for her to start being called HRH Princess Louise of Edinburgh.”

And username djo commented: “Looking ahead, the Royal Family will need to sustain their available working royals. Methinks a dignified Lady Louise would provide a well-mannered and educated role model. However, Lady Louise may prefer a private career and that should be her choice.”

Other readers agreed that the decision should be made by Louise, with username jane53 writing: “I believe this is her choice to not become more senior she’s a great girl and is wanting to do things for herself! Lady Louise, you continue to be you I’m proud of you as are the rest of the family!”

Username SandySil remarked: “She doesn’t need a title to be respected.”
