Lady Gabriella Kingston’s husband’s death ‘another sad blow for royals’, says Piers Morgan

The death of Tom Kingston, husband of Lady Gabriella Kingston, has sent shock waves through the Royal Family. Following a heartfelt tribute to the late financier from Buckingham Palace today, journalist Piers Morgan has commented on the devastating news.

Taking to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Piers described the event as “another blow” for the royals. Recently, the Royal Family has endured a lot of tough news, including that of King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.

Addressing his 8.7 million followers, Piers wrote: “BREAKING NEWS: Buckingham Palace has announced that Thomas Kingston – husband of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent’s daughter Lady Gabriella Windsor – has died aged just 45. Another very sad blow for the Royal Family.”

A statement has been issued on behalf of Tom’s family, including his wife, his parents Mr Martin and Mrs Jill Kingston, as well as his sisters Mrs Joanna Connolly and Mrs Emma Murray. The statement read: “It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother.

“Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing.”

The 45-year-old financier was found dead at an address in Gloucestershire on Sunday evening and emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 6pm.

An inquest will be held to establish the cause of death, but it has been reported that there are no suspicious circumstances and no other parties involved.

Tom’s wife Lady Gabriella is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, while Prince Michael is the first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “The King and the Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family.

“In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family.”

It appears to be a difficult period for the Royal Family at the moment, as King Charles undergoes cancer treatment.

Last month, Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton also spent 13 days in hospital following abdominal surgery.

In a statement announcing her discharge on Monday, Kensington Palace said she is “making good progress” and thanked the “dedicated nursing staff” at the London clinic where she was treated.
