King's glittering work ad for students including 'competitive pay' and accommodation

Some of the duties on the “unique” 20,000-acre estate include operating tractors, maintaining and operating grain stores, cultivating, working with livestock and general maintenance of the grounds.

It is believed that estate bosses are looking to prioritise British workers over international labourers who travel to the UK in the summer under the Seasonal Worker scheme.

Temporary workers will begin being taken on this month and will be working until October, according to job adverts on the Sandringham estate website and Farmer’s Weekly.

Those who are taken on will be working on areas of the estate owned privately by the King and not those rented by tenants.

The advert states: “Sandringham Farm is looking for harvest students to aid the farms during harvest 2023.

“The role will involve using modern equipment in an interesting and unique environment.

“The farm extends to 2,400 hectares (5,930 acres), growing crops such as wheat, barley, oats and beans, as well as utilising cattle and sheep within the rotation to graze clover leys and cover crops.

“Candidates with a strong interest in organic farming or a willingness to learn new techniques would thrive in this role.

“The farm runs a fleet of modern John Deer tractors using Greenstar RTK with a range of other equipment.”

Charles took over the running of the estate in 2020 when he was still Prince of Wales, after the previous boss Prince Philip decided to step back from public life.

The now-King soon introduced an outdoor lambing sheep flock and later announced plans for 500 cattle, whose manure would be spread over nearby crop fields.

Charles was last spotted at Sandringham shortly after his Coronation last month as he was pictured driving to the nearby St Mary Magdalene Church for a Sunday service.

It is just a short walk from Sandringham, where the royals traditionally spend Christmas, and they attend a service here every year on Christmas Day.

Last year was the first time Charles had hosted the festive gathering as King since the death of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022.

He and Queen Camilla were joined by Prince William, Kate, the Princess of Wales, and their children, and many other royal relatives for the annual event.
