King's commemorative coin could be yours – if you're turning 75 this year

The £5 coins pay tribute to the monarch’s passion for nature, featuring oak leaves and his favourite flower, the delphinium, alongside ladybirds and dragonflies.

Now the Royal Mint is looking for 75 people turning 75 this year to give them one of the coins to celebrate the King’s big day on November 14.

Those turning that age can submit their name and contact details via the Royal Mint. Winners will be drawn at random and asked to provide photographic evidence of age.

Rebecca Morgan of the Royal Mint said: “We are thrilled to offer 75 people also turning 75 this year the chance to receive a special commemorative coin.”

Another special coin, costing from £14.50, has been made from a blend of silver recovered from industrial and medical X-ray films to honour the King’s commitment to sustainability.

The Mint said the approach taken to produce it is a step in its journey “to become a world leader in sustainable precious metals”.
