King Charles's packing hack to ensure he always has favourite breakfast to hand

King Charles has a number of requirements when he embarks on royal trips and tours, including his breakfast box, which includes some of his favourite foods to start the day.

The King and Queen Camilla will soon likely be travelling more internationally as monarchs following a curb on royal tours over the past few years due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Charles is well-accustomed to travelling to far flung reaches of the globe, with his breakfast box ensuring he can always enjoy organic produce wherever he is in the world.

Former royal staff have emphasised how much the King practices what he preaches when it comes to environmentalism, as he has demonstrated his passion for organic farming over the years.

Royal chef Graham Newbould previously revealed what Charles likes to eat for breakfast: “Prince Charles has a healthier option. He’d have homemade bread, a bowl of fresh fruit, fresh fruit juices.

“Wherever the Prince goes in the world, the breakfast box goes with him. He has six different types of honey, some special mueslis, his dried fruit and anything that’s a bit special that he is a bit fussy about.”

Another former royal chef, Darren McGrady, worked with the Firm for 15 years and had even more to say about what Charles liked to see in the royal kitchen.

He explained that Charles ties to ensure the pantry is always well-stocked with “his own produce”, with him and Camilla growing their own food in their gardens.

Mr McGrady told another funny anecdote about Charles’s eating habits: “The instruction was to put two plums and a little juice into the bowl and send it into him for breakfast.

“I’d send in two plums and he would take one so it would come back out after breakfast and I’d put the other plum back into the jar and save it.

“One morning I thought, ‘ok, he only eats one for breakfast,’ so I only put one plum into the bowl and sent it out into the dining room. The attending [waiter] came through and said, ‘can His Royal Highness have two please?’ So I had to keep sending two in every morning.”

The royal chef also laid bare his take on the relationship between Princes William and Harry before their feud tore the brothers apart.

He said: “Yes they were close. When I moved to Kensington, they were in the kitchen all the time. They’d come in and play hide and seek, they’d just hang out in there and they were really good friends.

“I think that had Princess Diana been here today, maybe she would have talked to them. Maybe things would be different. I don’t know. Who knows? I’m not involved in their conversations.”
