King Charles wishes public Happy Easter ahead of his first major royal event in months

King Charles and Queen Camilla have taken to social media to wish the public a very Happy Easter.

Accompanied by a video of a cross surrounded by flowers, the royal couple said: “Wishing all of our followers a very Happy Easter.”

It comes as the King prepares to attend church on Easter Sunday, in his most significant public appearance since he was diagnosed with cancer. The Princess of Wales and her family will not be at the service.

He will lead other members of the Royal Family at the annual Easter Mattins Service at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

It comes just over a week since Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis and the King’s attendance at the service will be seen as a move to reassure the public following the shock diagnosis.
