King Charles has stepped out for his first royal engagement since “exhausting” Coronation weekend that saw him crowned in front of millions of viewers. The monarch will meet with academics from the University of Cambridge’s Whittle Laboratory, leaders from the aviation industry and senior Government representatives, including Grant Shapps MP, Secretary of State for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and George Freeman MP, Minister of State for Department of Science Innovation and Technology.
Charles was the Royal Founding Patron of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, a partner of the Whittle Laboratory.
The King will take a tour of the facilities and watch demonstrations. He will then attend a round table to discuss future pathways for a sustainable aviation industry.
It marks his first appearance since the Coronation, which some claimed was “exhausting” for the monarch.
“I spoke to someone close to the King this morning,” Katie Nicholl told GB News, before adding: “I said, ‘how is he feeling because he did a pre-party, pre-concert party and then after party and did that skit for American Idol, you know, brilliant.’
“The source said, ‘exhausted but knackered,'” Katie told the hosts, before going on to add: “I’m not surprised, they need a good rest now because it has been a pretty epic weekend for them.
“Saturday was the day that he’s waited his entire life for, you imagine the emotional energy that goes into a day like that, but I think overall it has been a great success.”
