King Charles plans to knight Archbishop Justin Welby for 'personal service'

King Charles is set to knight Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby for his “personal service” to the Crown.

The Archbishop of Canterbury is to be admitted to the Royal Victorian Order in the New Years Honours List.

His knighthood will mark the second time in recent history that a serving leader of the Church of England has received the honour.

The honour is used to mark the individual’s legal service to the monarchy.

The news of his knighthood will, however, undoubtedly raise a few eyebrows giving the Archbishop of Canterbury’s attacks on the Conservative Party.
