King Charles offers touching apology as news is announced he has cancer

King Charles has issued a touching apology to others despite his cancer battle.

Buckingham Palace has today announced that King Charles has cancer.

A statement from the Palace said that Charles was diagnosed following subsequent tests while he was receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate at The London Clinic.

But even though a battle now lies ahead for the King he has put thoughts of others at the centre of his concerns and apologised for the “inconvenience” cased.

A statement released by the Palace today said: “Regrettably, a number of The King’s forthcoming public engagements will have to be rearranged or postponed.

“His Majesty would like to apologise to all those who may be disappointed or inconvenienced as a consequence.”

The King has returned to London, having been pictured at Sandringham yesterday, to begin treatment immediately.

The full statement from Buckingham Palace issued earlier today said: “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted.

“Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.

“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.

“Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.

“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure.

“He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.

“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”

The King will not be appointing counsellors of state while he undergoes cancer treatment.

It’s thought heir to the throne Prince William will also have to step up royal engagements.

He announced earlier today that he would be returning to work after he cleared his diary following his wife Kate’s planned abdominal surgery.

Charles was originally admitted to hospital on Friday, January 26 for planned prostate surgery.

Buckingham Palace had announced the King had been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate.
