The feud between King Charles and Prince Harry has “humanised” the former, according to a source, as he understands he has the support of the public.
Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as working members of the Royal Family in 2020 and moved to Montecito in California, where they continued to speak out about their time in the Firm.
This culminated in the release of Harry’s autobiography Spare in January, which made a number of explosive claims against the family, including criticising Charles as a parent.
Although the King was said to be deeply hurt by the contents of the book, Buckingham Palace has never publicly commented on any of the allegations.
But a friend who the King asked for advice told The Sunday Times: “He has done the right thing to rise above it and carry on with the work of the monarchy, which provides a welcome and stark contrast to what happens on the west coast of America.

“It’s all very sad, but it mirrors what happens in a lot of families, so it humanises him. What’s clear is the side the public has come down on, and that’s reassuring to him.”
There have been reports recently that Charles and Harry could meet for peace talks in London next month, as Harry travels back from the Invictus Games in Germany and the King has a few days free between his return from Balmoral and his next trip to France.
Currently the date of September 17 has been suggested, as Charles will travel to France for his rescheduled official visit on September 20.
A source told OK!: “King Charles is due to return to London from Balmoral in the middle of September which ties in with the end of Harry’s Invictus Games trip to Düsseldorf.
“The King has a rescheduled official visit to France on September 20 so has a few days to spare in London to meet with his son. Staff are trying to fine-tune the details as we speak.”
If they do meet it will be the first time Harry has met with his father face-to-face for several months, although it is not expected that Meghan will join them.
Meghan has not been on UK soil since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last September, even though she was invited to the King and Queen’s Coronation in May.
Harry travelled to the Coronation alone for a brief trip, but he did not stay long as he flew straight back to California after the ceremony concluded.
The couple and their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are said to have an “open invite” to join the family at Balmoral, but it is very unlikely that they will do so.
