King Charles 'found it hard' to let go of one aspect of his life when he became monarch

The former royal butler said Charles’s charity and the foundation [The Prince’s Trust and The Prince’s Foundation] are “his babies” and so even though he’s handed the title of the Prince of Wales over, he will still be “actively keeping an eye on it”.

He added that even though eventually the King will cut all ties linking him to his former title giving full responsibility to his son Prince William and his wife Princess Kate, at the moment it’s a “team effort” as they are all “working on supporting each other”.

Harrold explained: “I’m sure that eventually he will cut all ties, leaving it to William and Kate and it will be their full responsibility.

“But at the minute, they’re all working on supporting each other.

“It’s very much a team effort at the moment.”

King Charles, as Prince of Wales, founded The Prince’s Trust in 1976 with an aim to help vulnerable young people, aged 11 to 30, get their lives on track.

It supports those who are unemployed or struggling at school and at risk of exclusion.

Nine years later, in 1986, Charles founded The Prince’s Foundation, which is an educational charity aiming to teach and demonstrate in practice traditional urban design and architecture which put people and the communities of which they are part at the centre of the design process.
