King Charles breaks silence on prostate diagnosis as he shares statement ahead of surgery

King Charles has gone into hospital this morning for his planned prostate surgery, Buckingham Palace has announced.

Aides shared a short statement confirming the news, where they said the King was pleased that revealing details of his benign enlarged prostate had had a “positive impact on public health awareness”.

Since Charles went into such detail about his corrective procedure – in a significant break from royal protocol – the NHS and other health websites have seen a huge surge in people checking their symptoms.

Buckingham Palace said: “The King was this morning admitted to a London hospital for scheduled treatment. His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week and is delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness.”
