King Charles benefitting from Harry peace summit speculation as it heightens 'soap opera'

If the pair do manage to meet in September, it will be the first time they have spoken face-to-face since Spare was published in January, with Harry using his autobiography to criticise his father’s parenting style, accuse his stepmother Queen Camilla of being a “villain” and claim William physically attacked him.

The Duke of Sussex did attend the King and Queen’s Coronation in May, however it was a very brief trip as he flew back to California after the ceremony without speaking to his immediate family.

A source told OK! magazine of the proposed meeting: “King Charles is due to return to London from Balmoral in the middle of September which ties with the end of Harry’s Invictus Games trip to Düsseldorf.

“The King has a rescheduled official visit to France on September 20 so has a few days to spare in London to meet with his son. Staff are trying to fine-tune the details as we speak.”

While Charles is said to be keen to reconcile with his family in the US, he has been hurt by Harry’s actions and wishes for their conversations to remain private.

The source added: “The King loves his son very much but he has been mortally wounded by what he has done. He will always be there for him but draws the line at public slanging matches.
