King Charles and Queen Camilla have arrived in France, ready to begin their three-day visit which will include stops in both Paris and Bordeaux.
The couple, who first flew into Paris, will enjoy a lavish dinner at the Palace of Versailles this evening, making the most of their first night in the city.
The King and Queen will be treated to a brief concert by Swedish violinist Daniel Lozakovich in the Chapel Royal, before making their way to the Hall of Mirrors for the evening’s meal.
The official menu, and all the food that the couple will enjoy this evening, has been revealed – which includes one rare delicacy.
Charles and Camilla will be dining alongside 160 guests expected in attendance, including the French President, Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron.
Both couples will arrive at 7.55pm and 8.00pm respectively in the Royal Court.
Revealed by the Elysée Palace on September 19, the starter will consist of blue lobster and crab with a veil of fresh almonds and a dash of mint-coconut gel. The lobster was caught at sea only a few days ago off the Vendée in France.
Speaking of the rare delicacy, Clémentine Fortineau, who is the communications manager for Les Viviers de Noirmoutier, said that it is “genetic modification” and is in fact “one case in one to two million”. The starter will be made by Anne-Sophie Pic, who is three-star chef based in France.
For the main meal, the King and Queen will be treated to a dish prepared by three-starred chef Yannick Alléno.
It will consist of corn-flavoured Bresse poultry – which will, according to the weekly Paris-Match, be marinated in champagne – and topped with a gratin of porcini mushrooms.
Two types of cheese will be offered to the couple – 30-month Comté and a Stichelton, a 100% English blue cheese.
The final course, the dessert, will be prepared by pastry chef Pierre Hermé, who will redesign his Ispahan rose macaron biscuit.
