King Charles and Prince Harry peace talks 'off the cards' as reconciliation hopes dashed

King Charles and Prince Harry will apparently not meet for peace talks in London in September as had been hoped, according to a royal source.

In spite of reports to the contrary, an insider told The Daily Beast that the meeting will not take place, although the King may be open to the idea of a reconciliation in the future.

It was initially believed that plans were being drawn up for the two to meet on September 17, as Harry is supposedly flying back from the Invictus Games in Germany via London, after the sporting tournament finishes the day before.

The King meanwhile will have a few days free between his return from Balmoral and his rescheduled official visit to France, which will depart on September 20.

A source told OK! magazine: “King Charles is due to return to London from Balmoral in the middle of September, which ties in with the end of Harry’s Invictus Games trip to Düsseldorf.

“The King has a rescheduled official visit to France on 20 September, so [he] has a few days to spare in London to meet with his son. Staff are trying to fine-tune the details as we speak.”

However other sources have “scoffed” at the idea, with Buckingham Palace dismissing the notion of a physical meeting between the father and son taking place.

The King may want to patch things up with Harry, but there is allegedly “no chance” his older brother Prince William is open to any dialogue as he is still hurt by the contents of Harry’s memoir Spare.

A friend of the Prince of Wales told the publication: “He feels utterly betrayed by what Harry wrote about him in the book [Spare] and said about him on Netflix.

“They were very close growing up so it has been very painful for William. But ultimately what can he do? Just look at Spare. It’s literally William’s worst nightmare.

“It is a total violation of his privacy. On top of that, Harry has criticised Kate and the way he is bringing up his children.”

The last time Charles, William and Harry held a meeting was after Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021, with the King forced to play peacemaker between his sons.

The issue of what to do with Harry and Meghan may be discussed by the senior royals when they reunite at Balmoral for their annual summer holiday.

Journalist Omid Scobie has insisted that while Harry and his family were not in regular contact, he has spoken to his father since Spare was released.
