Keir Starmer's frontbench in chaos as shadow ministers resign over crunch vote

Sir Keir Starmer is facing a Labour rebellion over a crunch Commons vote on a ceasefire in Gaza.

Three ministers quit ahead of the vote this evening on an SNP amendment to the King’s Speech demanding a permanent end to fighting in the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Labour MPs were ordered to abstain on the SNP amendment and were instead told to back Sir Keir’s position calling for longer “humanitarian pauses” rather than a ceasefire.

Labour frontbenchers are facing the sack if they back the amendment by the SNP.
