Kate, Princess of Wales, 41, appeared at the All England Lawn, Tennis and Croquet Club on Sunday wearing a £750 emerald Roland Mouret dress.
With emerald teardrop earrings and an emerald and amethyst ribbon, Kate’s green ensemble looked fantastic at Wimbledon.
The suit had a classy midi length, and the fit was perfect. The ensemble was vintage Kate when it was completed with Gianvito Rossi’s “105” heels and Emmy London’s “Natasha” purse.
However, many royal admirers commented on how crumpled the Princess of Wales’s structured green midi dress was, despite the fact that she looked stunning.
Royal fan @CubanCelt said: “First time I’ve ever seen Catherine wearing something so creased. This wasn’t a good fabric choice.”
Another fan tweeted: “Love the look but not a fan of Mouret as it will crease once you sit for long.”
Kate has form for occasionally wearing outfits that look creased. One such occasion was in October 2016 on a royal tour to The Netherlands.
During a visit to The Hague in 2016, Kate wore a gorgeous custom pale blue skirt suit with a pale blue “vintage style” blouse by French-born fashion designer Catherine Walker.
The jacket had a peplum waist, huge self-covered buttons, a fitted bodice with a broad collar, and a wide belt.
The Princess’s jacket also had notched sleeves that flared at the cuff. In addition, Kate’s pencil skirt had an interesting design, with the seam details visible at the hip just below the hem of the jacket.
However, the fabric of her stylish pencil skirt in cornflower blue let Kate down because it was clearly wrinkled.
At the time, there were quite a few comments about the fit of Kate’s jacket and the bumps beneath the fabric. This was likely due to the outline of Kate’s undergarments.
The suit had sophisticated lines and was made in a shade of blue that looked great on the Princess. Unfortunately, there were distracting creases on both items, especially on the upper sleeves and the front of the skirt around the hips.
The fabric appeared to be a silk/wool blend, but it may also have been a wool crepe or Venetian wool.
Kate took commercial flights to and from The Netherlands, so she had been wearing the suit for a while when she arrived at Villa Eikenhorst.
For her first official royal travel overseas without her husband Prince William, the royal styled her brown hair into a stylish bun and adopted an air hostess look.
The mother of three, who also holds a degree in art history, spent the day at the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague, where she studied the masterpiece The Girl With The Pearl Earring. The Princess additionally took part in a private tour of an exhibition featuring Dutch Old Masters on loan from the Royal Collection.
