Kate Middleton photoshop scandal causes US TV chaos as hosts turn on each other

Wednesday’s episode of ABC’s talk show The View got off to a heated start as the five panelists addressed the scandal currently making worldwide headlines, and sparking intense conspiracies.

The Princess of Wales’ Mother’s Day photoshop fail split the star-studded hosts, especially as some claimed the next public photo of Kate Middleton sitting in a car with her husband was also photoshopped.

Sunny Hostin, who revealed fellow panelist Sara Haines had sent her into a “rabbit hole” of online conspiracy theories, and shared some of her findings like “evidence” of the second photo being doctored because the “brick doesn’t match” the wall behind the car.

However, Whoopi Goldberg viciously hit back saying it “really irritates” her that her co-stars were buying into the conspiracies and raged that Sunny had “never seen a building that had two different kinds of bricks”.

Alyssa Griffin tried to quell the building chaos by turning to the “reason we care about this”, recalling Princess Diana’s tale and Meghan Markle’s claims against the royal family as evidence for why the public is concerned.

She claimed Buckingham Palace could solve the situation in “two minutes” with a direct-to-camera appearance by the Queen-in-waiting, but this only enraged Whoopi more who tried to explain something but was so consistently interrupted by Sara, Sunny and Alyssa that she wasn’t able to make her point.

The 68-year-old got so increasingly frustrated by her co-stars she even tried to throw the show to commercial as the conversation devolved, saying they were asking “stupid questions”.

The Hollywood star fumed: “When you buy into this, when they start doing it to your family, when they start doing it to your kids, it’s not cute. It’s not fun.”

The show’s longest-running panelist, Joy Behar, didn’t take a specific stance on the photoshop debate but simply declared: “I don’t trust the royal family,” as the hosts began shouting over each other.

Sara tried to clarify her stance, after being outed as an instigator, saying she is simply “worried about Kate” and that all she needs is quick video of Kate confirming she’s okay.

Whoopi retorted: “Why do you think it’s important to them what you need?” adding that the Princess of Wales was probably just “not thinking” when she photoshopped the original image.

Joy interjected asking: “Why then didn’t she just get the family together and get a photographer to take the picture?”

Sara let her emotions get the best of her as she yelled: “Because she’s not there!” before hiding her face in her hands and pleading to “go to commercial”.

Trying to regain control of the conversation, Whoopi shared a footnote before the break: “This is all speculation and we’re having fun. Just know that we know, that we don’t know.”
