Kate baffles royal fans as she explains Prince Louis' schooling at end of his first year

In a video posted to TikTok Kate can be seen answering questions about her brood, as she said: “My daughter Charlotte is going into Year 4 next year. I’m Charlotte’s mummy. And then George is in Year 5. And Louis’ in reception.”

However some struggled to understand what the Princess meant by the word “reception”, as while those in the UK understand this is the name for the first year of primary school some others abroad struggled to make sense of it.

One commented on the video: “Louis’ in reception sounds like she left him in the lobby or something.”

Another asked: “What is reception? Like preschool?”, while one said: “What does in reception mean?”

Louis started his first year of school last September at Lambrook School with his older siblings George and Charlotte, with them transferring from their old school Thomas’s in London.

The three have now officially broken up for their summer holidays, although it is not yet known when or where the family will be jetting off to for a break.

They are known to enjoy holidays on the Isles of Scilly, and it is likely they will join the rest of the royals at some point at Balmoral in the Scottish Highlands.

It will be an emotional visit for the Firm as it marks their first time visiting since the death of Queen Elizabeth, who passed away at Balmoral last September.

For Louis’ older brother George it will soon be time to attend secondary school, but exactly where he will go raises an interesting question.

For years, many royals attended Gordonstoun in Scotland, with King Charles, Prince Philip, Prince Edward and Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall among the alumni of the Scottish institution.

However, William and his brother Prince Harry attended Eton, situated near to Windsor Castle, starting there at 13 which for George is a touch over three years away.

But if Kate and William choose a mixed school for their children they may opt for Marlborough College, where Kate herself spent some happy teenage years as a student.
