Kate and William could make 'sad' decision about schooling for George, Charlotte and Louis

Both William and Kate attended boarding schools, Eton and Marlborough College respectively, with other royals such as King Charles, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward attending Gordonstoun in Scotland.

Recently the Prince and Princess of Wales were spotted taking Prince George on a tour of Eton, suggesting he will follow in his father’s footsteps.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond shared her thoughts with OK! Magazine: “The choice of school for the children will tell us a lot about William and Catherine.

“So far, they’ve been such a hands-on parents and, personally I think it would be sad to see them send their children away to boarding school.

“I would applaud a decision to keep them as day pupils at schools nearby their home. But I think both William and Catherine were happy at boarding school.

“I suppose it’s what they know and perhaps they will want to pass this experience on to their children.

“I imagine it will be all or nothing – in other words, all three will go away to school, or none of them.

“I will be cheering loudly if they decide to keep their children close and nurture them through their adolescence as they have nurtured them through the young years.”

If George and Louis do make like their father and go to Eton it raises the question over where Charlotte will continue her secondary education.

Were Kate and William to decide to keep their children close to home they could send their daughter to St Mary’s School in Ascot, where William’s cousin Lady Louise Windsor attended.

Kate’s own school Marlborough College in Wiltshire is another option, where the Princess was very popular and an excellent student.

Other notable alumni of Marlborough with royal connections include Princess Beatrice and Emerald Fennell, the Oscar winning screenwriter and actor who played Queen Camilla in seasons three and four of The Crown.
