Kate and Charles 'closer than ever' as royal pair bond in hospital over health battles

King Charles and Kate, Princess of Wales, have both been diagnosed with cancer this year in a devastating double blow to the Royal Family. However, royal sources have now revealed that the two royals bonded over their health battles during their time together in hospital. Charles could repeatedly be spotted walking down the hospital hallways at the London Clinic to spend time with Kate in her room as she recovered, The Times reports.

They were both recovering from surgery in the same hospital in January.

Charles was being treated for an enlarged prostate while Kate had just undergone major abdominal surgery.

A senior royal source explained: “There is a very strong relationship between their majesties and the Waleses.

“They are very close, more so at the moment.”

Another source, close to Charles, told The Times: “The King has always had a close, warm and unique relationship with the princess.

“She has a great love and respect for him and his position.

“When they were in hospital together there was a lot of toddling down the corridor to spend time with her.

“He has been encouraging and supporting her throughout.”

Coincidentally, Queen Elizabeth II opened a new cancer centre at the London Clinic in April 2010

Following Kate’s emotional address to the country last night, during which she confirmed her diagnosis, the King’s spokesman said Charles was “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did”.

The statement added that Charles had been in the “closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks”.

Meanwhile, the report in The Times also revealed that old tensions between William and Camilla have vanished and the pair have become closer throughout the ordeal this year.

However, the lingering distrust between the Wales’ and Sussexes’ remain, after it was confirmed that Harry found out about Kate’s diagnosis from the television, at the same time as the public.
