Just Stop Oil spokesman called out live on-air after telling producer to 'go f*** himself'

A Just Stop Oil spokesman who appeared on TalkTV was brutally called out on live TV after telling the producer “go f*** yourself”.

Alex De Koning appeared on the show today (Monday, October 30) where he was interviewed by presenter Peter Cardwell about Just Stop Oil’s recent protests.

But according to Mr Cardwell, the Just Stop Oil spokesman berated TalkTV’s producer after the interview, telling him to “go f***” himself.

Calling him out on the show, Peter Cardwell said: “So as you know these programmes aren’t made entirely by me there’s a whole team behind the scenes that work on these programmes.

“Today there are five people who are doing different jobs to get this programme on the air today.

“Now what happens before we interview someone is that the assistant producer, today it’s Finn and Ryan is the producer of the whole programme.

“He thanked Alex from Just Stop Oil who we’ve just been speaking to and what normally happens when the person comes off air is they say ‘thanks very much for that, we’ll talk to you again’ or something like that.

“What happened is Ryan said ‘thanks very much’, Alex then said to Ryan ‘go f*** yourself’. So those are the kind of people at Just Stop Oil when they are held to account, given robust questioning, when their claims are not entirely accepted, I’ve interviewed a number of people from Just Stop Oil, I have never in my nearly 20 years as a journalist heard a guest say that to a producer.

“To treat people who are not presenters, whose opinions are not public and who are doing their job, to use the f word to them, not knowing what their opinion is, you treat people with professional courtesty. Alex will never be interviewed by me again. I am so angry.”

Sharing the clip on X, Peter Cardwell wrote: “When Just Stop Oil spokesman Alex De Koning told my producer to ‘go f*** yourself’ after the conclusion of my interview with Alex on @TalkTV, I decided to call out Alex on air.”

Viewers praised the presenter for outing the spokesman, with one person writing: “Well said, standing up for your team is admiral.” Another said: “You. Mr Cardwell are becoming a Legend! You are real, honest, have integrity and are courageous.”

It comes after their latest protest led to more than 60 activists from the climate group being held on suspicion of public order offences in Parliament Square.

Protesters were seen wearing orange hi-vis vests and many were placed in handcuffs by officers after refusing to move from the area.

Just Stop Oil posted on social media that 65 people were a part of the march to demand “an end to new oil and gas”.

They added in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Ordinary people are in the road at Parliament Square, calling out our government’s genocidal policy of new fossil fuels.”

Just Stop Oil has been approached for comment.
