Julian Assange prosecution may be thrown out by the US, Joe Biden says

US President Joe Biden says the US is “considering” dropping its prosecution against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

The Australian, 52, faces charges in America over an alleged conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defence information.

The charges were brought after the release of hundreds of thousands of documents concerning the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

When Biden was asked by a reporter on Wednesday if the US would drop the prosecution he responded: “We’re considering it.”
