Jordan Henderson shows first sign of Saudi Arabia backtrack with fresh ‘money’ remark

England midfielder Jordan Henderson has clarified some of the previous comments he made on his controversial summer transfer to Saudi Arabia from Liverpool, now claiming that the financial element did play a role in his decision. The 33-year-old was booed on his first international appearance since leaving for the Middle East and has now given his first TV interview since the move.

Speaking to Channel 4, he said: “I have said that before and I did an interview a few months ago and some of the stuff that I said didn’t come out in the way I thought I said it or how I think that was the truth. An example of that would be that, in terms of I didn’t go out there solely for the money, I think that’s a big difference between it’s not a sole reason, rather than saying I didn’t go out there for the money.”
