President Joe Biden branded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ‘a**hole’ in a private call about him, according to multiple reports.
Biden has grown increasingly frustrated with Netanyahu over his “over the top” campaign in the Gaza Strip and has shown slammedthe Israeli leader behind closed doors, sources have told NBC News.
The President has been urging Israel to agree to a ceasefire. But those familiar with the conversations said Netanyahu has been “giving him hell” and has refused to agree to a defusion of the bombings that have rocked the area since October 8.
The source said: “He just feels like this is enough. It has to stop.”
Biden has at points referred to Netanyahu as just “this guy” in private discussions about working with him – and has allegedly called him an “a****le” on at least three recent occasions, according to the network.
The US National Security Council, however, dismissed the sources’ accounts, insisting that despite disagreements on some issues the two men have a “decades-long relationship that is respectful in public and in private”.
