Jeffrey Epstein 'paid Virginia Giuffre £11k to have sex with Prince Andrew' – court docs

Jeffrey Epstein paid victim, Virginia Giuffre, $15,000 (£11,000) to have sex with Prince Andrew when she was 17, she claimed in newly released court documents.

The documents are among the latest made public from Giuffre’s civil defamation claim against Ghislaine Maxwell in 2015.

During the court case, Giuffre was asked by lawyers for legal giant Alan Dershowitz about the time she allegedly spent with Prince Andrew in 2001.

She was asked: “Were you paid 10 to $15,000 by or on behalf of Jeffrey Epstein for having sex with Prince Andrew?”

Ms Giuffre responded: “Yes, I did receive $15,000. I don’t know what equivalent that is to pounds. I received it in American dollars.”

She was then asked if she had paid taxes on the money from Epstein, to which she replied “no”.

Prince Andrew has strenuously denied any wrongdoing and claimed he never met Giuffre.

He settled a sexual assault lawsuit made by her against him without admitting liability, paying out £12 million.

It is not known which location – London, New York or Epstein’s private St James’ Island – Giuffre claims to have had sex with the royal.

In the documents, Giuffre also described how she was trafficked to the south of France by Epstein and Maxwell to a world leader.

She told the lawyers she did not know his name, she added: “He did speak foreign tongue, he spoke English as well, but I’m not too sure where he was from…I was introduced to him as a prince.”

Epstein was also interviewed under oath in Ms Giuffre’s civil defamation claim against Maxwell.

During his deposition, included in the recent release of unsealed documents, Epstein faced inquiries from Giuffre’s attorney about whether he and Maxwell instructed her to engage in sexual activity with Prince Andrew in 2001.

The lawyer asked whether the gathered information in the legal proceedings “has the potential to affect the reputation” of the Duke of York.

Paul Cassell, representing Ms Giuffre, asked: “In fact, it would be a fair assessment of all the circumstances surrounding this situation to say that you forced Virginia to have sex with Prince Andrew?”

Epstein declined to answer.

After another refusal, Cassell questioned: “Shortly after Prince Andrew and Virginia had sex, Virginia gave you a full report about the details of the sex, true?”

He also stated: “Isn’t it true, sir, that Prince Andrew thanked you for making Virginia available to him for sexual purposes?” Epstein declined to answer both queries.

Recently unsealed documents indicated alleged sex tapes involving Andrew, Bill Clinton, and Sir Richard Branson taken by Epstein.

Over five days, 215 documents were unsealed by a US judge, following media efforts to make the case details public.

Epstein also abstained from responding to questions about attempting to blackmail the Duke of York post his alleged sexual encounter with Ms Giuffre.

Cassell also asked: “You had previously instructed Virginia that she had to give you a full report on the details of what men like Prince Andrew did to her so that you would have blackmail material you could use, true?”

Epstein invoked the Fifth Amendment, asserting his right not to answer under the US Constitution.

Epstein faced further questioning about his knowledge of Andrew’s “sexual preferences” and whether Ms Giuffre had “recounted specific behaviour that Prince Andrew requested before sexual intercourse.”

Despite the inquiries, the disgraced financier declined to provide answers.

Maxwell was the only person found guilty in 2021 of recruiting and grooming underage girls for Epstein to abuse between 1994 and 2004, she is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.

Epstein took his own life in 2019 while awaiting trial on related sex-abuse charges.
