An IDF spokesman has confirmed that an Israeli airstrike killed a senior Hamas leader on Sunday.
Strikes in the Gaza Strip have killed dozens of Hamas targets overnight, including the deputy commander of the group’s rocket array.
This comes amid Israel’s prepared ground invasion of Gaza after Hamas’ attack on southern Israel on October 7.
IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said: “We are not stopping our attacks on the Strip. We are increasing the attacks in the Gaza Strip in order to reduce the threats to our forces in preparation for the next phase of the war.
“We will go to the next stage under the best conditions for the IDF and in accordance with the decision of the political echelon.”
Hagari did not name the Hamas commander who died.
