Israel urges JK Rowling to help bring autistic Harry Potter fan home from Hamas captivity

Israelis are calling on JK Rowling to “use her voice” to help a 12-year-old Harry Potter fan who was kidnapped by Hamas.

The little girl, named Noya, was reportedly taken from her grandmother’s home by Hamas terrorists last Saturday and nothing has been heard from her since.

She is one of more than 150 innocent people who were taken captive following the unprecedented multi-front attack by the group.

The 12-year-old was staying with her grandmother at her home in Kibbutz Nir Oz when Hamas broke in. She is said to have left a heart-wrenching voice message to her mum saying: “Mom, I’m scared. There are people at home. Help me.”

At the time, her mother was at their family home just five miles away hiding inside a panic room.

Jerusalem shared her story on social media and asked JK Rowling “can you help us get her story out?”

The Israeli government wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “This beautiful 12-year-old girl with autism was kidnapped from her home by Hamas terrorists and was taken to Gaza. Noya, is sensitive, kind, funny and a massive Harry Potter fan.

“@jk_rowling can you help us get her story out?”

Noya’s mum, Galit Dan, and stepfather waited with his daughter Tomal at their home in Kibbutz Kissufim for 22 hours before being transferred to a hotel near the Dead Sea.

Ms Dan said: “The pain is indescribable. My little girl went to sleep with her grandma and was texting us as these animals went there.

“We hope they are among the people who have been kidnapped and will somehow manage to survive. I’m living every parent’s nightmare – every parent in the world will feel our pain.”

Crowds gathered in Parliament Square, London today for a vigil to remember those who were either killed or are missing in Gaza.

The death toll of people murdered in Hamas’ attacks was raised to 1,400 earlier today.

The attack has resulted in the highest number of Jews murdered in a single day since the Holocaust.
