He also noted the persistent attacks on Rafah and its surrounding areas are leading Hamas into “reshuffling” where hostages are being held, undermining rescue efforts with old intelligence.

The regional analyst added: “For Israel, despite the success of last night’s operation, the international outcry over the Hamas-reported collateral damage is presenting Israel with added pressure to negotiate a deal.

“Hamas is likely reshuffling where they are detaining their hostages rendering previously acquired intelligence inoperable, while the military likely weighs the chances for success in future hostage rescues against a hostage negotiation agreement which guarantees the safety of the hostages being released.”

The Hamas-led government in Gaza has reported that 28,340 Palestinians have died and 67,984 have been wounded since the start of the conflict.

Israeli officials confirmed 31 hostages have died since being held captive, three of whom were confirmed to have died because of “friendly fire” due to “misidentification.”
