Ireland star breaks down in tears during Six Nations clash with Scotland

Ireland star Peter O’Mahoney was in tears prior to his side’s Six Nations clash with Scotland with reports claiming that the veteran could retire after the series. The Ireland captain could barely sing the words of his team’s anthem as he battled back his emotions.

O’Mahoney was clearly moved as the camera initially panned to him during the Ireland Call. The camera then moved away from the 34-year-old to show his team-mates joining in with the anthem.

The Munster star was then visibly crying when the camera turned back to him. He struggled to sing the words and continued to wipe his eyes.

O’Mahoney is known to often be emotional during the Ireland Call but there is perhaps significance to his presence against Scotland.
