An ex-UN weapons inspector has issued a chilling warning that Iran could have enough deadly uranium to create 12 nuclear bombs in less than six months.
This comes as fears of a third world war are on the rise, with conflicts linked to Iran flaring up across the globe.
David Albright, a former UN inspector based in Iraq, believes that Iran could start mass producing this lethal uranium within weeks.
Tehran already possesses the knowledge to build nuclear weapons if they have the right materials, and it’s not the first time concerns have been raised about their intentions to do so.
Modern nuclear weapons require uranium enriched up to 90 per cent, and inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Authority (IAEA) believe Iran could start this process soon. UK’s Defence Secretary Grant Shapps has also warned that Iran has already enriched uranium to an alarming 83.7 per cent.

Fears about Iran’s access or production of nuclear weapons have been raised before. In 2022, its Supreme Leader bragged about how the country could “produce a nuclear bomb” after Biden finished a four-day trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia where he vowed to stop Iran from “acquiring a nuclear weapon”.
With the world at its “most dangerous and volatile moment” in history, the risk seems even greater. Iran’s terror proxies – including Hezbollah and the Houthis – have repeatedly clashed with Israel, the US and UK since the October 7 attacks and the Israel-Hamas war.
Tehran’s funding and wide-reaching influence has proven a deadly background force time and again. Ex-British tank commander Colonel Hamish de Bretton-Gordon told The Sun Iran is “the great axis of evil in all this”. “They are behind everything that is going on,” he added.
“The danger with the Middle East is with Iran’s nuclear weapon. We understand they are pretty close to creating a nuclear weapon. “Once they do that the balance in the region changes.”
