Inside William and Kate's spectacular Kensington Palace kitchen where royal children bake

Prince William and Princess Kate live in several properties across the UK, with their most famous abode being Kensington Palace in central London. While they currently spend most of their time at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, the couple still make regular use of their home in the capital.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have made use of Apartment 1a of Kensington Palace since the birth of their first son Prince George in 2013, but last year they switched up their main residence and moved to Windsor Home Park.

The couple and their three children still have use of Apartment 1a whenever they wish to stay in central London, with their offices close by in apartments eight and nine.

Their Kensington Palace home is a remarkable property, boasting five reception rooms, three main bedrooms, a night and day nursery, staff quarters and an exquisite kitchen.

Royal fans recently had a peek into the kitchen when Princess Kate and her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, took part in a baking session ahead of the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

According to videos posted on their official Instagram account, the elegant kitchen contains white cabinets, marble worktops, a wood-clad island, and a double range cooker.

The colour scheme is bright and classic, embracing a neutral palette featuring beige, white, black and wood tones.

In line with Jubilee celebrations at the time, the kitchen was decorated with Union Jack bunting.

The family used to spend more time at their London home, with Prince George and Prince Charlotte attending St Thomas’s School in Battersea.

But in 2022 the family made the move to Windsor, making it their primary residence, a decision thought to be made to be closer to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

However, a royal source told The Times the couple were looking for more privacy for their three children.

They said: “The reality is they are quite confined in what they can do in London.

“The kids can’t go into the park and kick a football with friends.

“Their plan is to be there for the next ten to 15 years and then move to Anmer [Hall], which is so special to them.”

Adelaide Cottage is a four bedroom property on the Windsor Estate, just a stone’s throw from St George’s Chapel which has hosted numerous royal weddings and funerals over the years.

The property is about a ten minute walk from the main castle, where Queen Elizabeth II spent the bulk of her later years.

Built in 1831, the property was designed by architect Jeffry Wyatville, and was commissioned by King William IV for his wife Queen Adelaide.

Later it is said to have been a favourite of Queen Victoria, who would often take tea there.
