Inside hoarder's abandoned UK home that's been untouched for 20 years

Two urban explorers have been inside the home of a hoarder that has been abandoned for over 20 years.

Daniel Sims, 35, and his friend Gavin ventured inside the abandoned home in Herefordshire. Mr Sims, from Huddersfield, Yorkshire, said he had heard about a property containing “loads of Buddhas” so he decided to track it down.

Known online as Bearded Reality, Mr Sims said he was a little anxious about approaching the property at first because local neighbours are “sick of people parking all around the place trying to get to the property”.

Deciding to park further away from the house than others, Mr Sims explained that the whole house is exposed to the elements because of the broken windows. Once inside Mr Sims was shocked by what he found.

He explained: “Once there I knew we had made the right call tracking this place down as the place was filled with some amazing antiques and crazy items. It also seemed the place ended up being a hoarder’s situation with things just everywhere.

“The outside of the house sits on like a stream and is a really pretty place, however, the inside now has started to be covered in areas of a thick layer of white mould and has seen better days.

“I am guessing the place (was) abandoned in the early 2000’s. Luckily there were no scary moments and it was quite peaceful once we were on site.”

Mr Sims said the rumours of Buddha statues were true and he joked “that the codename for the place did not match as I saw two but then found like 20 of them dotted around the property”.

As well as the Buddha statues, Mr Sims also found “stunning art and statues throughout the property and some very old photographs which were amazing to see, even one of a young man in the buff which I assume was the owner in his younger days”.

Mr Sims said he did not believe the house could be lived in again because of the location and that it would “most likely end up destroyed or left for use of the land”.

On why he takes part in urban exploring, Mr Sims said: “I love taking photos of different things and items and dramatic places such as this and with this place, there was so much to enjoy and take photos of.”
