Russian state propagandists have promoted a bizarre story suggesting that women in the UK have taken to cleaning houses wearing only underwear to earn money.
The segment was presented on Russian television by pro-Kremlin pundits Yevgeny Popov and Olga Skabeyeva.
Popov declared: “There are new trends in British cleaning. Nowadays professional cleaners not only clean the houses and apartments of clients, but also do it in a negligee.
“Women leave their normal jobs to become naked cleaners. They are paid much more in this field.
“Some clients even undress themselves in front of such naked maids.”
Last year the Russian TV host had a pop at Britons struggling with soaring energy bills and threatened Europe with higher oil prices unless western leaders back down over Ukraine.
Popov told Europeans to “eat and devour those high prices” as the European Commission scrambled to agree on a proposed 15 per cent reduction on energy use across the European Union in a bid to control runaway prices.
Popov told Russia1: “Yes, it’s us who created high energy prices for you British!
“Europeans, eat and devour those high prices! Here you are, exorbitant oil prices!
“Here you are, Swedish shoplifter! Would you like more?”
