Injured stork given prosthetic mouthpiece and released into wild

The endangered white bird was struggling to feed itself and survive in the wild.

Fortunately, the bird was rescued by crews from The Honghe National Nature Reserve in China’s Heilongjiang province.

The experts at the nature reserve managed to create a custom beak and fitted it onto its muzzle.

After it was securely fit, the bird was released into the wild and was able to soar again.

Oriental storks are listed as an endangered species with between 2,000 and 2,500 still remaining in the wild and in conservation projects.

The species is found in the wetlands of China, Japan, Korea and other parts of East Asia.
