'I'm consumed with anger!' Locals erupt after finding cat is dyed bright pink

A bright pink, Barbie-style cat seen walking down the street has left locals stunned and furious at who might have done this to the poor moggy.

The brightly-coloured feline was caught by astonished people as it sauntered along the pavement in Mexico.

At one point, the feline turns and shows its face, which appears to be partially dyed and naturally white in colour.

The cat is also seen wearing a collar, suggesting it has an owner.

Despite its bizarre bright pink colour, the animal appeared to be in good health and well looked after.

But locals have vented their fury, with one raging: “I’m consumed by anger.”

Another said: “If the cat cleans itself, it can end up poisoned.”

Someone else commented: “Poor cat, you have to be very stupid to do that.”

Another local remarked: “I hope they used dye that is not toxic to the cat.”

Anyone convicted of dying an animal can face jail under Mexican law.

Authorities in the country have warned that dyes can cause allergies, such as skin irritation or pain, as well as a lot of stress for the animal.

The toxins in the dye could also affect the animal’s health and even cause it to die.

It’s unclear if the authorities are trying to track down the culprit behind the cat’s altered appearance.

The Barbie movie – starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling – is the biggest film this year so far, having taken more than $1.3billion at the box office worldwide.

The hugely successful movie – based on the famous blonde-haired, pink-loving children’s doll – was released to global acclaim back in July.
