'I'm a royal expert – this is why Princess Kate won't ever consider Meghan's advice'

A royal expert has claimed that Princess Kate will never feel Meghan Markle is qualified enough in royal circles to offer her advice or support.

While Kate has been out of the royal spotlight as she recovers from abdominal surgery, and facing increasing scrutiny over her condition, Meghan has apparently reached out to her “through back channels” despite their strained relationship in the past.

However former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! that Kate would not be likely to welcome any words of wisdom from Meghan, even if a small gift might be appreciated.

She explained: “I don’t think Kate would ever consider Meghan – who spent such a very short time in the royal fold – as an appropriate or qualified person to give her advice or support.

“This is a time for Kate to concentrate on regaining her strength, physically and mentally, and I don’t imagine she would welcome tackling the family rift right now.”

After the book came out in November 2023 Kate reportedly phoned Meghan in an attempt to “clear the air”, as a source told In Touch Weekly: “Shortly after the book’s allegations came out, Kate reached out to Meghan to clear the air. Charles forced Kate to become his peacemaker after William’s refusal.

“She agreed because, when it comes to the Royal Family, Kate has always taken her duties seriously – she does what she is told.

“This feud has gotten so unseemly and out of hand, it’s starting to overshadow his reign and the entire monarchy. He wants to heal the rift once and for all.”

King Charles has also been off-duty as he continues to receive treatment for cancer, with news of his diagnosis becoming public over a month ago.

Although his prognosis is thought to be good, and he is continuing to work behind-the-scenes when he can, friends of the King were said to be taken aback by his illness.

One Buckingham Palace insider told People magazine: “He has not looked himself. I put it down to grief – he’d had two deaths close together [his mother, the late Queen in September 2022 and his father, Prince Philip in April 2021].

“But maybe he wasn’t well, without realising so. It would take it out of him.”
